the girl behind the shells

Sea Tales

I'm the daughter of three generations of seafaring folk — tuna fishermen, tugboat captains, maritime environmentalists — a family that grew up along the water and has never left it. I grew up in a home where seashells were currency. We'd trade and barter for the biggest, the prettiest, the most unusual ones — a childhood spent looking down at the tideline, hunting for treasure. I've never lost that. I'm drawn to organic shapes, and I still find most of my inspiration in whatever washes ashore: shells, sea glass, driftwood, old nautical rope, a stray fragment of a lobster trap. Each piece I make begins with something the sea decided to give back. I hope these treasures evoke a seaside memory for you, or hopefully you'll make new memories while wearing one. Dive in — the water's fine!
Each piece is designed as if it were carried ashore by the waves — capturing the colors and textures found deep beneath the sea.
